Area Advisory Councils

area advisory councils

Area Advisory Councils (AACs) are a great way to get involved in Boys & Girls Clubs in your community. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland (BGCSM) operates AACs in each county, Charles, Calver & St. Mary's. They provide support to the Corporate Board of BGCSM and assist in securing the necessary resources that will enable the organization to fulfill its mission. By participating, you:
  • Become an integral part of BGCSM's support base
  • Help raise funds for operations
  • Contribute your expertise to BGCSM projects
  • Take leadership roles
The AAC agress to make a commitment to:
  • Be an ambassador for Clubs in the community
  • Coordinate efforts to raise combined area fundraising goals
  • Review and evaluate progress toward goals and budgets
  • Lend support to all organization-wide events
  • Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers

Is the AAC right for you?

In order to join an AAC, members must adhere to the requirements below:
  • Accept a term of 2 years
  • Attend bi-monthly council meetings
  • Assist in meeting combined fundraising goals
  • Serve on at least one committee
  • Provide specific leadership when requested
  • Make a time commitment of a minimum of 40 hours per year, including council meetings, committee meetings and various Club events
  • Identify and recruit new AAC members
