Area Advisory Councils (AACs) are a great way to get involved in Boys & Girls Clubs in your community. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland (BGCSM) operates AACs in each county, Charles, Calver & St. Mary's. They provide support to the Corporate Board of BGCSM and assist in securing the necessary resources that will enable the organization to fulfill its mission. By participating, you:

Become an integral part of BGCSM's support base

Help raise funds for operations

Contribute your expertise to BGCSM projects

Take leadership roles
The AAC agress to make a commitment to:

Be an ambassador for Clubs in the community

Coordinate efforts to raise combined area fundraising goals
-
Review and evaluate progress toward goals and budgets
-
Lend support to all organization-wide events
-
Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers
Is the AAC right for you?
In order to join an AAC, members must adhere to the requirements below:

Accept a term of 2 years
-
Attend bi-monthly council meetings
-
Assist in meeting combined fundraising goals
-
Serve on at least one committee
-
Provide specific leadership when requested
-
Make a time commitment of a minimum of 40 hours per year, including council meetings, committee meetings and various Club events
-
Identify and recruit new AAC members
